As a highly sensitive person on my own healing journey,I know how hard it can be to find health practitioners who align. Over the years, I have learned that not all practitioners are the same and each of us will resonate differently with different people but investing time in finding your right team pays off. My base team is made up of a naturopath, GP, Chiro, Spinal flow practitioner, spinal energetics practitioner and mentor but how often I visit each one will vary depending on life and what’s happening for me at the time.
So how did I find my Health team?
One of the most important criteria for me in choosing a practitioner is their commitment to doing their own healing work. No matter how many degrees or certifications they have, if they aren’t doing their own work, I know they won't be able to help me. Generally, this is something I can pick up on in the energy exchange. There’s a grounded-ness, humility, presence and trust. As health practitioners, teachers, parents or any sort of helper, it is essential to be a clear mirror for those who we are working with. None of us ever get to a point where we are totally grounded, clear and fully in touch at all time so the work is ongoing. If we truly want to help others, we also need to be doing our own work.
Extending on that, another key aspect that I have come to value in a practitioner is their patience and faith in my own inner processes. As a sensitive being, my healing journey hasn’t been a linear progression. It takes time for me to build trust, feel safe to let go and allow myself to be seen. My journey has had its highs, lows, dips, pauses, progressions, regressions, roundabouts and everything in between but the process in itself, is where my deepest healing has unfolded. If a practitioner has an agenda without attuning to where I am at or offers me a quick solution to all of my problems, I know they aren’t for me. I need a team who supports and guides me as I connect back to the innate knowing and healing capacity I have within me. A practitioner who doesn’t judge when I lose my way but holds space and trusts that I will find my way back.
Trusting my intuition and honouring my sensitivity has led me to practitioners who I trust and feel supported by. This starts before I even book my session- does this feel right? Am I nervous because it’s new or am I feeling nervous because it feels off? During the first sessions I also pay close attention to how I feel in their presence- do I feel like I could build a relationship with this person? Do I feel safe to be myself in their presence? Listening to my intuition has guided me towards practitioners who I can build strong connections with and this will differ for everyone.
As a spinal flow practitioner, I strongly encourage all of clients to find their tribe, experience other practitioners and find what works for them. This is your journey and the biggest part is learning to say no to what doesn't feel right and saying yes to what does.
